For those of you interested Only in TRAVEL, I (Jack) wrote the blog between MARCH 2010 and October 2010 during our travels west. We saw the most beautiful places and had the best time in our big truck and little trailer. See Blog Archive below.

Where is Jack, Day 25?

It's 4:15 a.m. and we're awake. We can't seem to get used to the time change, and we seem to go to bed earlier. So, what does one do at 4:15 a.m. I'm going to try to go back to sleep, and so is Nancy, but I don't think it's going to work. We both hate when this happens because it's the time of day when loneliness sets in. Oh, it will pass once we're up and busy, but it's not a good time right now.  I'm keeping this diary not only as a journal of what we're seeing and doing, but what we're feeling and thinking.

We've got an exciting day ahead. We're going into Santa Fe. Maybe I'll try to think of that.

Well, it's 7:30 and Nancy just got back from the showers. She took two pairs of clean pants with her and no shirt.

Whenever she goes to the showers, she finds me here when she gets back (I'm not allowed on the couch). That's what she gets for leaving me alone.

So?

Wow, look at the ring around the collar I have--this dust and dirt really gets into everything. Wilson just came by with Tucker and Teddy. We're going for a walk.

Well, we did walk on the trail. It was eventful to a degree. I had some gastrointestinal discomfort, but it seemed to "pass" and we went on with a very happy walk on the trail (except that Nancy was mad at me for telling Teddy how much I love him). Nancy took quite a few pictures. It's so much fun having everyone here. We had a great time on the trail, and we all got along so well. Here are pictures of Princess, Wilson, and all of us pups on the trail.

Then, the ladies all decided that we'd go to Santa Fe. Deb rode with Nancy and me. We were all going to meet at the Georgia O'Keefe Museum. Well, it's not that easy to park in Santa Fe, and all of a sudden I had an emergency. Nancy dropped Deb off and pulled into a driveway, got me out, and I did what I had to do.  Nancy then found a parking spot close by, put the fan on--it's fairly cool here, today, and walked over to the museum.  I don't think it was 10 minutes and she was back to check on me, and I wasn't feeling too good. She stayed in the truck waiting to find out where to meet her friends for lunch, but decided she'd go on back to the camp site, instead. Then, on the way she pulled off and put "animal" in her GPS and there was a vet very close to where we were, so she turned around and went.  Well, it seems that it snowed here last Sunday, and the vet (another pretty girl) said that precipitation seems to bring out a bacteria in the soil so between me eating the pinion pine wood and grass, I might have it.  She also said that she had had at least a dozen dogs in since the snow--and that she can almost tell how busy her week is going to be whenever there is rain or snow. They put some more water in my back, gave me a shot of penicillin and some pills to make my stomach feel better, and off we went, home. A little while after we were here, Erlene came home and she came over to check on us.  She's such a nice person. She and Bailey stayed for a while, while Nancy and Erlene gabbed.  Bailey and I slept. I woke up to write this, but I'm going back to sleep, again. The vet said the medication might make me drowsy, and it did. Nancy only got to snap a couple of pictures right where the truck was parked. So much for Santa Fe. She doesn't mind, though.  She told me I'm much more important to her.

I only have one thing before going back to bed. It's hard to believe that grown women can act so silly and make so much noise. We had to take them for a walk to calm them down for the evening. Sheesh.

  1. Well, did Princess and Luanne arrive? How was the pot roast? Inquiring minds want to know.

  2. You're up! Yes, they are all here, tired from the drive. The roast was well received (what else can they say?).
