For those of you interested Only in TRAVEL, I (Jack) wrote the blog between MARCH 2010 and October 2010 during our travels west. We saw the most beautiful places and had the best time in our big truck and little trailer. See Blog Archive below.

"I'm Forrest Gump"

I have probably watched this movie a dozen or more times over the years, yet each time I learn or see something new, and each time I cry. It brings back so many memories of when we were young, and it is the story of those times; good and bad.

I had a craving to watch it after seeing Gary Sinise on TV...he is a wonderful man. His organization to help wounded veterans exists because of the part he played as Lieutenant Dan.

Forrest Gump is my favorite movie (there are maybe five that follow it). It's brilliantly written to interweave humor, sadness, happiness, tragedy, and love all during a time of a terrible war...I don't think anyone my age can watch it through to the end without tears. I couldn't.

Thought I'd write a short post to remind anyone dropping by to be sure to watch it again--and so that some day my kids will know that Forrest Gump was my favorite of all movies.

You thought I forgot, huh?

    1. Hi Sherry! Yes, I own the Green Mile and Philadelphia (another of my favorites), as well. In fact, I think I probably own all of his movies. Can't beat Tom Hanks as an actor. Also love Out of Africa (oops, have I hit my five?) maybe I should make it 10. Still Forrest remains 1st.

  4. Tom Hanks is such an incredible actor. His ability to act such very different roles is amazing. Can't believe the Academy snubbed him this year. I had forgotten about Gary Sinese.

    1. I agree. I don't think I've ever seen Tom Hanks in a bad movie. I'm anxious to see Captain Phillips. Gary Sinese is also on one of the CSI weekly programs, but his work in his foundation is wonderful.

  6. Hmmm.......looks like I'm the only dissenter here. I watched Forrest Gump once but never got into it as I thought it seemed kind of dumb. I'm obviously in the minority but I have no real desire to watch it again. I do like Tom Hanks though and enjoyed his latest Captain Phillips.
